1) Install Moneta on the new
computer from your Moneta2 CD.
2) Do not run Moneta2 yet - you now need to restart your
computer!!
3) Do not run Moneta2 after restarting - any version below 2.0.12
will simply hang upon start-up.
3) Download Moneta2 ver. 2.0.12 (or above) from
Numus downloads
4) Vista will not allow you to simply unzip it into it's preset
location, so either you will have to run the file with
administrative privileges ("Run as
Administrator"), or you will have to unzip to somewhere like your
desktop and then manually copy and
paste or drag it into the file where you installed Moneta. If you
accepted the default installation, that
is at c:\Program Files\Numus\Moneta2. In any case you will have to
acknowledge you are overwriting an
existing file.
5) Now you must start Moneta2. The very first time it
starts it will take some extra time because it is
creating new files required by
Vista. Please be patient.
6) After starting Moneta2 (v2.0.12 or above) once, you should
shut it down and then begin the
process of transferring your existing data files to
your Vista system. Unfortunately, Vista complicates
even this by hiding the new data
directory. To make the new data directory visible, you will have
to
start Window Explorer and press Alt to show
the menu, then choose Tools: Folder Options: View and
then click on "Show Hidden Files and Folders".
a) The new Monetadb folder is now at:
<drive>\users\<username>\AppData\Local\Numus\Moneta2\Monetadb
You
should
copy your old Monetadb (the entire folder) from your old computer at
c:\Program Files\Numus\Moneta2\Monetadb and replace the Monetadb
in Vista with it.
b) You must also copy
all files (they all start with DealList or Compudex - a total of 9
files)
from the old computer's c:\Program Files\Numus directory and move
them to
the Vista computer
<drive>\users\<username>\AppData\Local\Numus
directory, again
overwriting the newly-installed files.
7) You should then be able to use Moneta2 normally, with the
exception that you will have to
contact Numus for a new authorization
code valid on Vista. Simply email to moneta@numus.com
telling us you are making the move to
Vista and we will reply with a new free authorization code.
